TempWatch in Malawi's iKMC Program
BEMPU TempWatch is supporting the integrated Kangaroo Mother Care (iKMC) program at Area 25 Hospital in Malawi — a program run by the Baylor College of Medicine and funded by Laerdal Saving Lives. TempWatch provides continuous temperature monitoring for vulnerable newborns, helping healthcare teams detect hypothermia early and keep babies warm during and between kangaroo care sessions.
The iKMC model integrates kangaroo care with clinical monitoring, creating a comprehensive approach to improving survival for premature and low birth weight babies.
iKMC + TempWatch
TempWatch complements kangaroo care by providing continuous hypothermia monitoring — alerting parents and nurses if a baby's temperature drops even during skin-to-skin contact. This combination gives medical teams confidence to keep babies in KMC longer and more consistently.
