Background & Methods

A cross-sectional acceptability study among 43 mothers of LBW infants admitted to the NICUs of Fernandez Hospital and Paramitha Hospital, Hyderabad. Mothers were surveyed on their experience using the BEMPU TempWatch device in the NICU and at home after discharge. The survey assessed perceived usefulness, ease of use, satisfaction, and the device's role in facilitating the transition from NICU to home care.

  • 1All 100% of surveyed mothers found the TempWatch device useful for monitoring their baby's temperature.
  • 295% found it helpful specifically during the transition from hospital NICU to home care.
  • 370% gave the device the highest satisfaction score of 5 out of 5.
  • 4Mothers reported the device reduced anxiety and helped them feel confident managing their baby's temperature at home.

Why This Matters

Parent acceptability is a key determinant of whether any neonatal device delivers real-world impact. This study demonstrates near-universal acceptance of TempWatch among Indian mothers in a private hospital setting, validating the device's design for parent-facing use and NICU discharge programs.
